ECHOES IN INK 2026
“Echoes in Ink – The Art of Remembering” is an interdisciplinary art and education project by Jugend- & Kulturprojekt e.V. that gives young people a creative entry point into Jewish history and the confrontation with Nazi persecution.
Especially in a time when antisemitic attacks are on the rise, historical narratives are being forgotten, or politically instrumentalized, new forms of remembrance are needed: participatory, visual, and experiential. Echoes in Ink responds to this need by combining artistic expression with historical education – creating new perspectives on the culture of remembrance.
Following the successful implementation in 2025, the project will continue in 2026 with multiple project days at schools across Saxony. Students in grades 7 to 12 will have the opportunity to develop their own short comics in interactive workshops, explore historical and local biographies, and creatively reflect on social responsibility. In this way, artistic expression and historical knowledge are combined to bring memory to life and open up new perspectives on history.
HOW THE PROJECT DAY IS STRUCTURED
The project day is divided into three interactive workshop modules, each lasting 90 minutes:
Workshop Against Antisemitism
Students engage with historical backgrounds, local Jewish biographies, and the impact of prejudice. They are sensitized to antisemitic attitudes and learn to critically question them.
Graphic Novel Workshop
In this module, students learn the basics of comic storytelling, character development, and visual narration. They discover how historical content can be creatively conveyed and how to artistically tell their own stories.
Artistic Implementation
Under the guidance of our experts, students create their own short comics on topics such as memory, responsibility, and values. This process connects history, creativity, and personal reflection.
